Every month for the past year I have brought you five new fun family activities to do and this is post number twelve. Each month I have enjoyed sharing with you new ideas on ways you can inexpensively spend quality time together as a family.
July’s Fun Family Activities
Build Sand Castles At The Beach. Do you remember squashing the damp sand into those little shaped cups and then using it to make a sand castle? Recreating your childhood memories and helping your own children to create new ones with your toes buried in the sand is a great way to spend an afternoon.
Go Camping. To be honest this is not one of my favorite things to do. But being a boy mom it is something that I am learning to enjoy. Since our boys are still young our camping trips have been mostly in Grandma and Grandpa’s back yard it is still a fun way to spend a weekend. Turn your weekend into an adventure by pitching a tent and spending the day exploring the woods.
Have A Water Balloon Fight. Summer time and water balloon fights go hand in hand. They are a fun way to cool down on a warm summer day. Just make sure you have a safety zone for anyone who doesn’t want to get wet!
Have A Lemonade Stand. Nothing says summertime and childhood like an old-fashioned lemonade stand. You can even take the opportunity to teach your young entrepreneur about profit and expense. Lemonade stands also help to reinforce simple addition and subtraction for the young elementary students. While some cities across the U.S. are becoming pickier on if your kids can make a lemonade stand, many still allow this American summertime tradition.
Go Swimming. Summertime and swimming need I say more? As I have mentioned often this summer my family spends a lot of time in and around the water. It truly is, in my opinion, the best way to spend a sunny summer day. Just make sure you follow a few precautions to stay safe in the water.
Now dear readers, I have a question for you. It was my original intention to do this series for a year. To give you suggestions every month so that you had some ideas of what your family could do each month. With the conclusion of this post, comes the conclusion of this series. However, if there is some interest in it I will continue it. Please let me know below if you would like me to continue with this monthly series. Thanks!
