It’s March! In my mind it’s the last hurdle on our way to spring. Every March is like a huge sigh of relief, we have made it through most of the winter and now the finish line is in sight. To help March fly by here are five more fun family activities to keep you busy all month-long!
Five Fun Family Activities In March!
Make Your Own Colored Sand Art. Just because there is snow on the ground and it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t play in the sand. Colored sand can easily be purchased on Amazon or at your local craft supply store. This project is sure to keep the kids engaged in a fun and creative art project all afternoon.
Play Hide-N-Go-Seek! My boys love playing hide-n-go-seek and we play it almost daily. It’s a great way for preschoolers and toddlers to practice counting and problem solving disguised as fun!
Visit A Fire Station. If you haven’t taken the time to visit your local fire station now may be the perfect time to do so. Visiting the fire station isn’t just a fun family activity, it also has the added bonus of introducing fire safety to your children. Getting them up close to the big red trucks and introducing them to the local heroes can help reduce fear of them should your family ever need their help. Take advantage of this outing to create an emergency plan for your family as well.
Make Shadow Puppets. Instead of reading a bedtime story, why not create one with shadow puppets. Let your child tell the story about what the puppets are up to. Creating shadow puppets and creating happy memories all in one!
Celebrate Dr. Suess Birthday. Today is the beloved childrens author’s 111th birthday! He has been entertaining kids with fun tails like Horton Hears a Who! (1954), The Cat in the Hat (1957), and Green Eggs and Ham (1960) for generations. His birthday is also National Read Across America Day, so join in on all of the fun grab some books and have a read-a-thon!
